( Rom 9:10-13) 10. And not only this, but there was Rebekah also, when she had conceived twins by one man, our father Isaac; 11for though the twins were not yet born and had not done anything good or bad, so that God’s purpose according to His choice would stand, not because of works but because of Him who calls, 12. it was said to her,“THE OLDER WILL SERVE THE YOUNGER.” 13.
Just as it is written, “JACOB I LOVED, BUT ESAU I HATED.” Before Esau and Jacob was born before they had done anything God Chose Jacob over Esau, some say that God chose based on which one of them would be righteous, or good. This is not true God said “that no one is righteous”(Rom 3:12). That being the case if God chooses based on a person being good, He wouldn’t choose anyone.
So God’s choosing is based on the good pleasure of His will. 29. For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; 30. and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified (8:29,30).
This is wonderful, predestination, when it is related to God’s work, means that God marks off events in your life where you become aware of His presence. I like to say He get your attention. This could be a one time encounter or several encounters, but the point is that one of those encounters God gave you special irresistible grace and you believed. Those who God predestines He calls and those He calls He justified (Roman 8:30). Justification has to do with judicial matters dealing with an individual receiving a guilty or not guilty verdict. When you answered God’s call, the Judge of the universe delivered His verdict on you. He declared you to be not guilty. Not because you or I were not guilty, but because Jesus went on trial for us and received our punishment. He was not guilty but He was declared guilty and put to death. We are guilty and was declared by God to be not Guilty. Jesus was given our sins and we were given His righteousness. Thank you, Jesus.
Those who God Justified He also Glorified. As far as God is concerned it’s a done deal. He has seated us in heavenly places next to Christ (Eph. 2:7). We are already there but not yet. God sees us as being there but we have to experience what God already knows. If you have not answered the call, answer it now He has chosen you. Amen! God bless you.
