POWER IN THE WORD OF GOD
12For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul and spirit, joints and marrow, as it judges the thoughts and purposes of the heart (Heb. 4:12).
Greeting brothers and sisters friends, grace and peace to you in the name of God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ and God the Holy Spirit. I thank God for this wonderful opportunity to share with you from His Word. Lord God help me as I delineate your Word that I may say and express those things you would have me to say. Lord open the heart and the minds of those who are reading so that they may understand, If they are Christians let this be a blessing. If they are not, allow the power of your word to penetrate their hearts. Thank you, Lord, in Jesus name Amen.
When we refer to the word of God we believe it to mean either, the word that was at the beginning with God and is God, which is Christ the living word, or we think of the bible which is the written Word. In Heb 4:12 the verse of scripture is certainly true concerning Christ. However, this verse of scripture is referring to the bible. The written word of God Is living and active, it seizes the consciousness, it cuts deep into the heart and soul. The word of God is pure power and accomplishes whatever it has been set out to do. The word is also active in comforting and healing of one’s soul. The word of God is sharp and is able to cut with such surgical precision that it is able to cut out exactly what is targeted without doing harm to the heart. The soul and the spirit are so intricately connected and are of the same substance that they are one, However only God by His word is able to make the separation and distinguish the soul from the spirit.

God’s word penetrates the heart of His people, and shed light on our need to repent and be forgiven. The word of God is able to discern all evil thoughts in a person’s heart and move them from the inside to out. By exposing the truth in our hearts God shows us our need to come clean. Only by repenting of our sin and asking God for forgiveness can we have a fellowship with God. God’s word is powerful and totally dependable to the extent that God’s people can trust in His word and find comfort in doing so.
God’s word gives us the power to overcome. When Jesus was being tempted by Satan 40 days in the wilderness, He used the word of God to overcome The enemy. While Jesus was being tempted He uses the word of God when the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread. But Jesus answered and saying, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God (Mark 4:3,4). Jesus overcame by the use of God’s word. As Christians, we must be aware that the enemy will take advantage of every opportunity to attack us. It does not matter about the situation, his objective is to take you down. The whole world can be against us and level all types of accusations against us but the word of God said that neither death nor life. neither angels nor rulers, neither present things to come, neither powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom 8:38-39). We must fill ourselves with the word of God, its sharper than a two edge sword.
The word of God has wonder-working power. Once when Jesus was in the boat with Peter, and Peter couldn’t seem to catch any fish. When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, ” Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch. But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at your word, I will let down the net. : And when they had done this, they caught a great multitude of fish, and their net was breaking so they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them, And they came and filled both boats so that they began to sink (Luke 5:4-7). The power of the word of God is the same today. Jesus said If ye abide in me, and my word abides in you, you shall ask what you will and it shall be done(John 15:7). To let Jesus word abide in us is to have intimate knowledge of what He has said. It means that His word is a vital part of the way we live. This is done by reading and memorizing His word, and then by obeying His word. We learn from Jesus teaching what to do. We learn from His response how to respond. We learn from His compassion how we should love others. We learn from His obedience how we are to submit to the Father, We learn from His self-control how to be strong. When we live according to these principals we can ask God for what we will and it will be done.
God’s word is everlasting power. In today’s society, few things are lasting. Temporal possessions deteriorate. Your clothes wear out, your shoes wear out. Everything you own deteriorates. even different civilizations fall apart after a few hundred years. even our life in this world is very temporary. The power of God’s word endures forever, Guns, and Tanks and not even nuclear power can destroy it. Jesus said ” Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away (Matt 24:35). God’s word shall always be. It will never Change. that which is true in God’s word today is and always will be true tomorrow and forever.
God’s word has revealing power. God’s word reveals His will for humankind. God’s word reveals His love and offers salvation to those who repent and believe in Jesus Christ. God’s word reveals the Holy Spirit who cleanses, empowers, and directs totally committed Christians guiding us into all truth My friends thank you for this opportunity to share God’s word with you, If you know the Lord as it concerns you salvation, then I hope this message increase your knowledge so that you may be profitable to the community of God. The power of God’s word is demonstrated in the verse of scripture where God’s word says God so love the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believe in Him shall not perish but shall have everlasting life (John 3:16). My friend God love you, you are not here by chance.
