Brothers, sisters and friends, greeting, grace and peace to you in the name Of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. I thank God for this opportunity to share His word with you. I will be sharing with you concerning our relationship with sin. Lord, I pray that you guide my mind as I reason with my friends concerning our relationship with sin and with Christ.  Lord open the hearts and minds of all who read this message and help us make application of what we learn to our lives. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

“Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.”—Romans 6:11.

I notice that we as Christians place a lot of emphasis on the blessings we receive from God. But we sort of place on the back burner the reason we receive the blessings in the first place. for example, one of the blessings we expect to receive is going to heaven when we die. This is a good and great expectation, and we thank God for the blessed hope. Going to heaven is the result of Jesus dying for our sin and our responding to God’s promise of everlasting life to anyone who believes in His Son. Going to heaven is secondary to being saved from sin. What are we to believe? We are to believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for our sin. Matt 1: 21 says that Jesus will save His people from their sin. Sin is the enemy that exacts an enormous cost and that is putting it lightly. Sin is disobedience to God’s law. Sin is criminal in nature, Sin is lawlessness. Sin is the sting of death.

Here is the problem, If Jesus died for your sin, why do you continue to live as if you are not saved by continuing to sin? The answer most Christians give is ” well I am only human, I’m not perfect, and when I sin, I ask God to forgive me and I go on. God knows that I am not perfect and that I’m going to sin. God promises that if I confess my sin that He will forgive me my sin and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. This Christian has given in to the excuse of being human and low expectations concerning sin as no big deal, God will forgive me. This person has made up his or her mind to continue living their life in sin, and still take advantage of the benefits of being a Christian. Like being a citizen in two countries, one in Heaven and one in the world. You cannot be a citizen of heaven and a citizen of the world. You can’t straddle the fence. Either you are saved or you are not. You can fool everyone but you can not fool God.

once a man and a woman are married in mutual honest fidelity, once they have made that sacred vow of being one, there is no more question of a better choice, no more thought of changing the relation, no withdrawing the heart’s affections. no wavering is admissible, the pledge is made for everlasting faithfulness and the matter is settled forever. This is how God looks at our marriage to Christ.

Suppose with me, that a husband comes to his wife and say” honey I’m going out to the lounge today and try to make contact with some prospects for Christ. His wife warns him of the danger of falling into temptation. The husband response to his wife is don’t worry if I give into temptation I will ask God to forgive me when I am finished and I’ll be back into His good graces. A man says he is a Christian and confessed in public to God that he has been living in sin thus far and intend on continuing to live in sin until the day he dies. So he intends to be a traitor to Jesus every day, he expects to crucify him afresh every day of his life, put Him to open shame, and dishonor His name, grieve his heart and bring sorrow upon the Church. He is convinced that he is a sinner but he is not convicted and sorrowful for his sin.  His heart is not inclined toward God.

Before you were saved you were dead in sin. Sin controlled your life. Everything you did or thought was somehow tainted in sin. It did not bother you because you were inclined to it, sin was a normal part of your life, and controlled you, and promised you everything your heart desire. But you listened to the gospel message and you believed God, and took Him up on His offer of salvation from sin. So the scripture says “reckon your selves dead to sin”(Rom 6:11a). Now that God has saved you from your sin consider yourself dead to sin. You are no longer dead in sin, or under sin’s power that you have to obey it. You are alive to God through Jesus Christ, and He will empower you so that you will have the strength not to sin.  Sin no longer has the power to influence you.  You are now free from sin and are now under the glorious grace of God, and indwelled by the Holy Spirit.

Humanism is a poor excuse for continuing to sin. Stop saying I’m only human, you can’t fool God, He knows your limitations, He knows you completely. Think about it no matter what your philosophy is, don’t you think that since Jesus died for your sin,  and since you have received salvation from sin,  you should put forth the effort to restrain your self from sinning? Do you think that God would tell you to consider yourself dead to sin if He did not give you the means to yield your self from sin? Do you think that it is right to use the gospel for vast accommodations of indulgences, only to ask God to forgive you again, after deliberately committing sin knowing that you are saved and that He will forgive you? This is horrible, God is not being glorified in a life lived in dishonor. be careful, you are living dangerously and could very well be falling from grace.

There are two opposing views I would like to briefly cover. One is the person who believes that God has saved us from our sin through His Son Jesus Christ and that because of God’s gracious gift he or she will with all their power provided to them by the indwelling of the holy spirit refrain from sin. Not thinking or considering in their heart or minds their imperfections or Humanity, but truly putting forth the effort to refrain from sin. The other view looks at salvation not as from sin, but as from the retribution to come for the sin that they have been saved from. They use the promises of God as a way to indulge themselves in sin and blessings. They depend on God to forgive them again, and again, and again and restore them to a rightful relationship with Himself.  God is loving and merciful. God said I will never leave you or forsake you. God is patient and is able to change a man’s heart.

God is imminent, as well as transcendent. God is Imminent that He is actively working His will in this world and even in us, even though many of us are not thinking correctly concerning our salvation from sin. If we meet the conditions set by the gospel, we belong to God and we are in His hand. Jesus said” And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.  My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.”(John 10:28-30). God is Transcendent That He is not apart of this world. God is greater than this world.  God is a Spirit, infinite eternal, and unchangeable, in his being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth. and love. God loves us and won’t let us go, on this we can depend. We don’t have to be afraid to refrain from sin, ask God to help you.

God love you, my friends, He cares about you and He wants to extend to you an invitation to receive from Him the gift of forgiveness for your sin and eternal life. God sent His Son Jesus to die for the sins of the world. God said that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but will have eternal life. If you believe God He will save you from your sin.  My friends and brothers and sisters thank you for taking the time to read this message, I hope that it was of benefit to you, If so please let me know. If you have made a decision today to believe God and you don’t know what to do Let me know, allow me to help you, Blog my post.

God Bless You
